Origins

Starting the year off with a bang, I'm pleased to introduce Blaze Orange. A Milwaukee native, Blaze found inspiration just a short drive away in Chicago, the birthplace of legendary House music. He has been in the music and DJ scene for over 15 years. Reflecting on his journey, Blaze recalls his early days recording favourite songs from the radio into mixtapes—a humble start that eventually evolved into a passion for DJing.
However, the COVID-19 pandemic brought a turning point. Frustrated with the club scene and a lack of artistic fulfilment, he rebranded himself as Blaze Orange, a name inspired by his signature orange Carhartt hat and his love for the outdoors. Today, he channels his Midwest roots into producing House music that resonates with authenticity.

Style & Influences

Blaze Orange’s style is firmly rooted in House music, spanning subgenres like Bass House, Tech House, Chicago House, and Deep House. Initially envisioning his sound as primarily Bass House bangers, Blaze soon realised that creativity often takes unexpected turns. “Tracks can write themselves,” he notes, “and sometimes they evolve into tech or deep vibes.”
The Chicago House scene left a lasting impression on him, with artists like Green Velvet and Armand Van Helden shaping his creative vision. Other influences include Skrillex, Habstrakt.
Listeners may describe his tracks as minimal, but Blaze takes pride in the intricate details—unique samples and subtle ear candy that elevate his music. His production philosophy is a mix of intentional craftsmanship and going with the flow, allowing magic to happen organically. He adds much needed colour to an oftentimes stale genre.

Highlights & Growth

Among Blaze’s body of work, one track particularly stands out: “Slow Down.” Written in a burst of inspiration, the song came together quickly and found a home on the House of Hustle side label. It marked Blaze’s first collaboration with a larger label and continues to feel timeless, a rarity in an ever-evolving industry.
In an era where visuals play a crucial role in music, Blaze has invested heavily in fine-tuning his brand and vision. Emphasising his love for the outdoors, he aims to connect with fans by showcasing this aspect of his life. His choice of the name “Blaze Orange” reflects his vibrant and bold identity, making him instantly recognisable in a crowded industry.
Blaze believes - rightly so - that consistency is key. “Sometimes you need to grind out extra hours to overcome challenges,” he explains, “but taking a break from a song can also be necessary.” Striking a balance between hard work and avoiding burnout has helped him maintain momentum in his artistic journey.
Blaze Orange’s artistic evolution has been marked by positive feedback and personal growth. However, he acknowledges the need to focus more on the business side of his career to achieve financial sustainability. Social media has become an essential tool for him, and he’s embracing its potential to connect with fans and grow his brand.

Fresh sounds on the horizon

Collaboration has been a highlight for Blaze Orange. A project with a talented female hip-hop artist is currently in the works—one he hopes will come to fruition soon. Another exciting release is a track with Solus-Sun, set to drop in January, along with Blaze’s first EP in 2025. The EP will include fresh remixes from other artists, showcasing the breadth of his creative collaborations.

Lighting the decks ablaze

For Blaze, live performances are a sacred space where he connects with audiences on a deeper level. While massive crowds bring their own thrill, he holds a deep appreciation for smaller, intimate shows. “There’s something special about a hot, sweaty venue where you can truly feel the energy,” he says. Whether in small spaces or on big stages, being in the zone as a DJ is an experience he cherishes.

Message to Fans

Blaze Orange offers an inspiring message to fans and aspiring musicians: “Don’t quit. It’s never too late to go after a dream.” Reflecting on his own journey, he shares how he rebranded and started producing music at age 38 after overcoming personal challenges. His story is a testament to the power of resilience, reinvention, and passion.
From his roots in Milwaukee to his vibrant tracks that light up dance floors, Blaze Orange is proof that it’s never too late to chase a dream and redefine success. With exciting projects on the horizon, it’s only the end of the beginning.

Blaze also has a hot new track dropping today, be sure to check it out on your streaming platform of choice!
