Meet Bassmood, the 29-year-old German music producer who’s capturing fans’ attention with his unique sound and vibe. His journey began with piano lessons at the age of eight. After playing in a pop band, he discovered a passion for songwriting and recording music, which led him to the world of EDM music, where he now shares his passion through his music, producing work and online platform - Producer Academy, a community over 60 000 strong - the idea for which came from him frequently teaching others different aspects of music production. His name is a simple combination of bass and mood, because as he says he is “always in the mood to create bass-heavy music”
The energetic beats that drive his sound, blend bass-heavy elements with mood-lifting melodies. This interview explores the inspiration behind his music, creative journey, and insights for aspiring artists.

Crafting the signature sound

Describing his music as a "blend of bass and mood-boosting" - which is strikingly accurate - he says this style is part natural preference and part deliberate choice due to his obvious passion for EDM music. “I’ve always been drawn to energising, upbeat music,” he explains. “Some people turn to sad music during tough times, but for me, that would just pull me down further.” Instead, his music seeks to uplift and empower, blending various EDM influences to create tracks that serve as anthems of resilience and joy. To experience his special sound, I would start with singles like Lose Control and Horseride, however his whole discography is more than worth checking out.
While Germany is renowned for its vibrant EDM and techno scenes, his inspiration comes mostly from online discoveries and less mainstream producers. He enjoys the fresh, experimental sounds of lesser-known artists and finds that they fuel his creative vision. “I’ve just heard many of the big names’ tracks too many times.” he says and we can definitely agree.
Collaboration has played a vital role in Bassmood’s artistic journey. A frequent collaborator is his friend BassTea, a local DJ and fellow producer. He highly values this partnership for its creativity and synergy, as BassTea brings ideas that align seamlessly with his own. Some of their best works are Time to Groove, Awaking From Reality and (in my humble opinion) especially Summer Feeling. Looking forward, his dream collabs include artists like Anyma, Don Diablo, and Fisher—established producers whose music he admires.

Trusting the process

Each track he creates holds personal significance, reflecting his emotional state at the time of production, and is crafted with authenticity, offering listeners a piece of his creative energy and inner world.
Though he has yet to produce music videos, he uses his experience in marketing to connect with fans through Spotify and social media. Acquiring skills in video production and Photoshop from his working experience, he focuses on crafting engaging album artwork and promotional content.
Like many artists, he faces creative blocks but has learned to navigate them. “When I feel stuck, I take a break and shift my focus. I’ll even render a track to my phone and listen to it in the car, which often sparks new ideas,” he shares. Working with a fellow producer has also been a key strategy; collaborating with someone who understands his style brings fresh perspectives, often eliminating the chance of stagnation.
Reflecting on his artistic evolution, he recognises significant growth recently. Teaming up with BassTea has brought new energy to his creative process, and together, they’re exploring hard tech music. We’re eager to see his artistic direction, moving forward.

His message to fans and budding musicians is simple but powerful: “Create music you love, not just what you think will be popular. And, if possible, find a partner to create with—collaboration brings growth and a whole new level of inspiration. Above all, remember: tough times call for bass-heavy music!”
